Center for Alzheimer's Disease Research

The Fluid Biomarker Core Facility, located in the BioMed Center at Brown University, is equipped to measure biomarkers of disease in blood, urine, saliva, cerebrospinal fluid, and tissue lysates using three immunoassay platforms. Both the HD-X™ (Quanterix) and SMCxPro® (EMDMillipore) instruments offer bead-based immunoassays providing fg/ml sensitivity for detection of protein biomarkers. The MESO QuickPlex™ SQ 120 (Meso Scale Diagnostics) multiplex analyzer utilizes electrochemiluminescence to measure up to 10 analytes per each well. In addition, the laboratory is equipped with a Nanodrop 8 spectrophotometer (ThermoFisher), Biotek EL406 plate washer and fluid dispenser (Agilent), Biotek 405 plate washer (Agilent), Biotek Synergy H1 multimode plate reader (Agilent), Jitterbug 4 Heated Microplate Shaker (Boekel Scientific) thus offering flexibility in custom assay design services.
